FALLOW DEER (Cervus Dama L.)
National fallow deer record: 208,22 CIC points (4,75 kg.), shot in 2016.
The fallow deer disappeared from Bulgarian lands about ten centuries ago. His reintroduction started in 1904. The favorable climatic conditions and the good habitats in Bulgarian hunting grounds have advantaged the good acclimatization and development of its population in the country.

Many hunters have already experienced that hunting during the breeding season from early October to early November is a very strong experience. Males roar almost all day long and are in constant motion fighting for the right to mate with the females. Fallow deer inhabits plain and slightly hilly deciduous forests with extensive meadows, preferring their outskirts. The main way of hunting during the rut is by stalking and waiting with morning and afternoon outings. At the rest of the hunting season also staying at a high seat is practiced, depending on the hunting area.
Trophies` qualities:
The average trophy weight of the fallow deer in Bulgaria is 2,5-3 kg, but in some areas also trophies over 4 kg can be successfully hunted.
Trophies are paid according to the weight in kilograms measured with the upper jaw.
Combination with other species:
Depending on the hunting ground, it can be combined with red deer, wild boar, mouflon, chamois, predators.
